For information about grade openings, please call Sara Armstrong, Director of Admissions, at 787-1584. Applying to Cold Spring SchoolThe application deadline for the upcoming school year is February 1. Admissions decisions are mailed on March 10 to families who complete the application process by the February 1 deadline. The application process is a time for us to learn more about each other. The process varies depending on grade level and is described briefly below. Preschool applicants must be three years old by September 1 of the year they will begin preschool. After we receive your application and teacher information/evaluation form, you will be contacted to schedule your child’s visit to the preschool classroom. A time will also be arranged for you to discuss your child’s application with the Director, Jeff Jonathan. Kindergarten and First Grade: After we receive your child’s application and teacher information/evaluation form, you will be contacted to schedule a visit for you and your child. The Director of Admissions will meet with your child to administer a screening survey followed by a visit to the K/1 classroom. Meanwhile, time is set aside for you to meet the Director, Jeff Jonathan. Second through Sixth Grade: Families applying for admission in these grades complete the application, submit the teacher information/evaluation form to your child’s teacher and apply for a release of records from your child’s present school. After we receive that information, a half-day visit for your child is arranged. During the visit, the child spends time in the grade they will be entering, participates in classroom activities and is given an evaluation test to measure knowledge in reading and math. A meeting with the Director, Jeff Jonathan, can be arranged at either end of your child’s visit. |
Papier-Maché DogsDid you know Lewis and Clark had a canine companion on their voyage? Students in the first and second grades explored shape and form using papier-maché to create their version of Seaman, the Newfoundland. See more renditions of Seaman in the Art Gallery. |
