The Institute for Educational Innovation


is a non-profit organization located in Fair Haven, a neighborhood of New Haven, Connecticut. Established in 1991 as the program development and training arm of the independent K-6 Cold Spring School, the Institute supports educational change through various approaches, including:

  •  Facilitating connections among schools, government, and community
  • Implementing projects that enhance children's thinking processes
  • Creating interdisciplinary projects that promote academic success
  • Maintaining a demonstration school that represents an effective learning environment
  • Developing and testing new methods and tools that advance the principles of progressive education
  • Providing professional training for educators
