New Haven Shipping

They send scrap ships to Asia and Europe carrying scraps. Then they send it back as straight and in rolls of metal, steel and that kind of stuff. Then we turn it into car fenders and those things. Last year Logistec Co. handled 600,000 metric tons of steal, 90,000 metric tons of zinc, and 80,000 metric tons of copper. They have a storage house that's three acres.

The forklifts are taking zinc from the special lift platforms on the ship.

The dock is made with a special material. It looks like wood but is very expensive. It is very strong so it will last a long time.

This is a picture of the special decking material for the dock. It is very strong and dense.

They use pipes to fill containers with oil, airplane fuel ,and other liquids. They sometimes paint the vats black because the heat from the sun is absorbed better. When they send gasoline through a pipe and then put another type down, they send the gas that is in the pipe into a storage bin.

These are the containers where the liquids are stored. As you can see, some are painted black.

Some ships are called scrap ships. Scrap ships are ships that have scraps of metal. Metal is the most common thing they ship of export. These are some more things they ship to places like zinc, steel, metal, copper, rocks, and bricks. There things would be put sometimes into coils.
